Paddy-Go-Home: Workshop

How does a fairy tale-like white house sow the seeds of hope? Tread through farmside paths with environmental artist Monti Lai Wai-yi and witness the first three weeks of another rice farming season. Bring back a pot of baby rice and look forward to a homely harvest.

Monti Lai Wai-yi

"Monti" means a mountain. However, she seldom visits mountains, because most of the time, she is field-bound, busily observing the growth of plants. Her dedicated observation (instead of cultivation) earns her the nickname of "Mon (look in Cantonese) - ti (field)." Ten years have passed since she dived into the paddy fields. Observing by the farmside while farming with art is her deep practice.

You only need to keep the soil moist, and manage the water volume in the final phase. Depending on the amount of light it receives, it takes 4-6 months for home-grown rice to harvest.
