Songs Wandering through Sai Wan — Children’s Song Writing Workshop

DESCRIPTION

If one were to write a children’s song for Sai Wan, what would you wish to pass on to the future generations? If Sai Wan’s history were revisited through childhood memories from different eras, what kind of surreal fairytale might be composed?

Artist Yim Sui-fong will introduce the creative ideas and anecdotes behind Songs Wandering through Sai Wan, analyse different forms of children’s songs, and invite participants to improvise and rewrite Cantonese nursery rhymes together. The workshop will conclude with a group singing of the newly written lyrics.

These Sai Wan songs may be subjective, nostalgic, or delightfully absurd, yet they may also become part of a creative gathering filled with shared memories and resonances.

This workshop comprises four sessions designed for different age groups, inviting participants to draw on their own childhood memories and collectively create songs inspired by Sai Wan.
