Through “Our Southerly Days”, Deep Food, the creative duo, explored the unique tastes and boat-dweller’s culture of the Southern District. They placed their art installations along the kaito ferry serving between Aberdeen and Ap Lei Chau, as well as at the Aberdeen and Ap Lei Chau piers. Each ferry ride shared the story — gentle recollections of this stretch of sea.
While creating the immersive culinary art performance “Aberdeen Fishing Dreams”, they discovered so many fishing port delicacies they’d never tried before. From “daai toi” (seaweed) with white bean soup to dried mantis shrimp, a single typhoon shelter holds countless delicious memories that connect the kaifongs.
These shared memories linked the audience with Aberdeen, transforming it into a truly unique experience and preserving the cultural memory of the community.
