Zoe Siu – Weaving the Future In 2023, weaving artist Zoe Siu drew inspiration from the early Hakka settlers in the Wun Sha Creek ravine and created a series of three-dimensional weavings that resemble the ripples and movement of the stream for “small valley TAI HANG". Continuing her creative journey from “small valley TAI HANG”, Zoe Siu once again explores the traditional Hakka culture, and presents her new work, Weaving the Future. The artwork transforms the classic Hakka fa dai blessing motif "Lum Chai” —an olive- or diamond-shaped pattern—in the form of unconventional kites. Hira Hira – Little Happiness In Tai Hang Inspired by the ancient temples, unique small shops, and historic buildings in Tai Hang, paper-mache art collective Hira Hira created a series of paper-mache figures in 2023 for “small valley TAI HANG”. The artwork Little Happiness In Tai Hang features uniquely distinctive forms and incorporates AR interactive activity to enhance the journey experience. Today, Little Happiness In Tai Hang is still on view across the Tai Hang community, continuing the connection between art and community. Location: |  |
Max Cheng – Stay In A Moment with Incense In 2023, mixed-media artist Max Cheng visited small shops in Tai Hang to create tailor-made handmade incense with unique scent alongside the shop owners. Max invited carpenter Lam Chi to design and produce unique incense trays for each shop and created incense based on the formulas chosen by the shop owners. Stay In A Moment With Incense, the artworks created by Max during “small valley TAI HANG”, remain on view in the Tai Hang neighborhood, connecting Tai Hang’s cultural character and the warmth of everyday life.
