Behind-the-Scene: "Gloomie Cat’s Southern Journeys"
“I’m so thankful for the sunshine this past month, which allows the giant ‘Gloomie Cat’ installation to be displayed outdoors!
Beneath the clear blue sky, it could interact with and embrace passers-by, sharing in the beauty of the days.” — LeonLollipop

For his first large-scale art installation, artist LeonLollipop brought his iconic “Gloomie Cat” into the stories of the Southern District, taking it to Wong Chuk Hang and Stanley. Alongside it, his other mixed-media works scattered around the district, offering delightful surprises to passers-by — as if writing new chapters in the district’s everyday stories.
This project brought Leon back so many memories of growing up in the Southern District, where the wonderful weather felt like an extra gift — illuminating those small, forgotten moments of ordinary life. Sketching by the sea, watching the mesmerising waves roll in, voices of chatting and laughter drifted through the air, leaving behind gentle traces on our hearts and in the memories of these places.

“I’ve lived in the Southern District since I was little and have witnessed its many changes. As a child, I often roamed around Shouson Hill. Now, buildings have sprung up everywhere. Despite all the transformations, I still love the Southern District and enjoy capturing its hidden corners with my phone.”
