Wander: Installation

A mixed media installation for random acquaintances to recall "a most memorable meal" and reflect on the meanings and memories of gatherings in an artistic language. During the exhibition, the artist will be there sporadically to work and await exchange.The work merges with the everyday of A Few Moments・Youth Hub, which remains open as a youth centre and community space serving barista-style coffee at certain times. In Tai Sang Wai, in addition to experiencing the sound walk created by sound artist Tim Chan, you can also create your own through field recording. Enduring Taste: Guided Tour & Sauce Printing Experience

A rare opportunity to visit a production facility that is usually not open to the public. Through aromatic scenes, you will learn about what gives the condiments and the artist’s site-specific works their nuanced taste. Wander: An Evening at 1983—Firewood, Instant Food, Spotlight

In a hypothetical state of emergency, convenience stores and supermarkets become contingent storage of major staples.The raid snatches a time-saving feast with fancy packaging! Here and now, a bonfire in the concrete jungle burns as the civilisation dissolves. People cook water with firewood for all kinds of cup noodles, with loads of packaged food on the side. In the spotlight, while cooking and eating cup noodles, they tell their thoughts. ※ Pre-registration required.

Tai Hang Tiger Paper Craft Workshop

The Haw Par Mansion is a famous Grade I historic building in Tai Hang, with tiger sculptures as its signature. Hira Hira will work with participants to create paper craft sculpture, injecting new life into "abandoned paper" and transforming them into unique Tai Hang Tigers. ※ Pre-registration required

Tai Hang Phoenix Paper Craft Workshop

The yellow-crested cockatoo is a critically endangered species, currently with a global population of around 2,000 individuals. Approximately 200 of them can be found on Hong Kong Island and are easily spotted in Tai Hang. Hira Hira will work with participants to create paper craft sculpture, allowing them to learn more about the "Phoenix" of Tai Hang. ※ Pre-registration required

a string of incense, a wisp of smoke: Handmade Incense Workshop

Incense plays a vital role in Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance. Burning incense can purify the space, stabilise the mind and calm the nerves, which has been gaining popularity as a form of therapy. In the workshop, artist Max Cheng will provide insights into various aspects of handmade incense, including its history, cultural significance, production process, tools, materials, molds, and more. Participants will learn from the traditional method of making incense and incorporate different types of woody or herbal plants to create their own incense.※ Pre-registration required

Architectural styles, evolving with the passage of time, reflect the social, ethnic, cultural and lifestyle aspects of a specific era, serve as tangible records of history. Architectural researcher Charles Lai will guide participants on a journey through Tai Hang, exploring various historical buildings from the perspectives of architectural aesthetics and conservation. ※ Pre-registration required

small valley TAI HANG x Chung Chi-ho: Community Cultural Tour

Chung Chi-ho, the founder of Made To Measure, is skilled at understanding the local life and culture through research and documentation of architectural details. In this guided tour, participants will be led by Chung Chi-ho to practice "Street Observation Studies" where they will search for easily overlooked details and objects in the community, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of Tai Hang. ※ Pre-registration required

small valley TAI HANG Art and Cultural Guided Tour

small valley TAI HANG has invited a total of five artists and art groups (Tim Chan, Max Cheng, Hira Hira, Zoe Siu and To Wun, Louis) to create over 20 artworks for the community. They adopted traditional craftsmanship into their contemporary art creations, which are scattered over the corners of the community. In addition to appreciating the artworks, the guided tours will introduce the artistic and creative attractions in the Tai Hang community. ※ Pre-registration required

Tai Hang Factory No.1 Journey of Art Across Chrono

"Character Blossom" was a folk gambling game during the Qing Dynasty, which was brought to Hong Kong from Guangzhou a hundred years ago. In the 1930s, "Tai Hang Factory No.1”, the largest "Character Blossom" factory on the Hong Kong Island, was located in Tai Hang. The curatorial team has designed a community exploration game using the narrative method of "Character Blossom". Behind each location along the route lies a hidden tale of history, the public can decide to explore the community on their own or to join the guided tours to explore Tai Hang. ※ Pre-registration required

Louis To Wun x Tim Chan: Honouring the Past and Inspiring the Future Parade & Music Performance

Inspired by the auspicious beasts closely associated with the Lin Fa Temple, contemporary artist To Wun, Louis has created a new hybrid mythical creature. He skilfully combined traditional bamboo weaving techniques with contemporary painting styles, creating an agile dynamic structure. Through vibrant performances, he infuses his artwork with life, shedding lights on the cultural traditions inherited from the previous generations and spreading the blessing to Tai Hang.Louis, together with composer and percussionist Tim Chan, will present two parades with the hybrid mythical creature. Tai Hang Sharing Session

The curatorial team Making On Loft will share their research on art and cultural tourism, as well as a review on the activities in the small valley TAI HANG project. Participating artists will be invited to share their creative insights in the community and a publication titled "Tai Hang Dragon, Tiger & Phoenix” will be launched at the sharing session. ※ No registration required.
